Sewing Projects

I love being crafty. In fact, when I was younger I could think of no better way to spend my Saturdays than being holed up in my room constructing some sort of project. My family never had a lot of money, but that was never a problem for me, since I usually tried to come up with some way I could make the things I wanted.

I am happy now that I like to make things, especially now that they are useful for my everyday life. My new living room is now dominated by a beautiful picture my husband got for me for my birthday.
It has changed the colors of my entire living room. As I believe going out to buy new throw pillows, etc. is a big waste when I have perfectly good throw pillows, I have decided to make new covers for my existing pillows (which are already sporting covers which I made last year).

So I went to the fabric store last week and spend ages picking out the perfect fabrics and came up with these:

The red and mustard yellow in the front are felt and will be used to make rose pillows like the one I made last year:
I am also hoping to make one or two with this look to them:
So cute!

Another sewing project I will begin soon is to make sleep shirts. I found a simple tutorial at another blog to make these night shirts:
The pattern is based off of a pillowcase dress and is so easy to make. I love cute night shirts, and I decided to make some for my sisters and sister in laws. And a few for myself hopefully. It was very difficult for me to find some cute jersey knit fabrics to make these with, but I finally found some at Hobby Lobby yesterday:
We'll see how they turn out!

So there are my projects which are just itching to be done, but I of course have to carve what little time I do have to begin them.

  1. First I have to say that I'm a new reader, and I LOVE your blog! Your outfits are always the cutest. :)

Second, those sleep shirts look pretty comfy! Do you have the link for the tuturial/pattern? I'd like to try my hand at it!

    Have a Blessed day!!

  3. I just found your blog today and have read so much of it and have recommended to my mom and several friends. I also would love this tutorial. It's so cute and I think it would be so much fun to make for my daughters for holidays.

I love to fellowship with others and hear what they have to say. I would ask, however, that you be mindful of what you write and try to be uplifting and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
