So Far So Good!

My husband and I made a decision recently about our care choice for this pregnancy. Although we know that things can change quickly and force us to make another choice, our experiences with our last two miscarriages made me feel strongly that we should use a local independent midwifery office which does home births.

More on that later, but today we went to my regular doctor's office and had an ultrasound done, just to be sure all was going well. After this I will be receiving my care from the midwives, not the doctors office. I was a little nervous, because last time I went for this first ultrasound appointment, we did not hear a heartbeat. That was the first indication that we were miscarrying.

Today was such a happy day because we got to see and hear that beautiful beating little heart
It was just amazing to see that little heartbeat and know that so far everything is going well!

Sometimes pregnancy just doesn't seem as "real" in the early months to men as it does to women. I feel this baby with every trip to the bathroom and with every bought of nausea. A friend told me that she tried to make it "real" for her husband by having him pick out an outfit for the baby.

Although I am usually a thrift store kind of girl, I surprised my husband by stopping at the store the other day. I took him to the baby section and asked him to pick out an outfit for the baby. It was a special way for him to feel that this baby is real and growing. We will not know until the birth whether we will be having a boy or girl, so my husband decided on this little sleeper which will hopefully fit the baby this time next year
My husband's favorite color is gray, so I should have guessed he would pick this one! I have it hanging on the door handle of the guest room, which will become our nursery. I walk past it multiple times per day and get excited when I see it!

We aren't out of the weeds yet, but so far so good!

  2. Hi Abby, I am just under 7 weeks pregnant, so it is still early. But luckily, seeing that heartbeat today means my miscarriage rate falls to about 5%

  9. I am very happy for you Amy! Have been thinking of you often and praying when I do!

I just wanted to say that your faith through your experiences, and the way you have shared with us have been of great encouragement.

Last week we lost a pregnancy at 7 1/2 weeks, and despite feeling sad, I've been just overwhelmed by God's goodness and really blessed.
I don't think my perspective would have been quite the same without having been blessed by your testimonies on this blog. So anyway, Thanks!

I love to fellowship with others and hear what they have to say. I would ask, however, that you be mindful of what you write and try to be uplifting and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
