Turn-Around Thursday

Turn-around Thursday is a practice in being positive and keeping a good attitude... even when it is not easy. Here are my "Turn arounds" for the week

1) It's that annoying time of year when I don't know whether to wear short sleeves or a jacket. The temperature changes so fast and I am always either too hot or too cold.
Turn-Around: This has been a lesson in one of my new favorite subjects: LAYERING! A short sleeve shirt with a cardigan and a thin jacket will work in any weather.

2) I am swimming in potatoes. Literally.... no figuratively. Our CSA only has one-size Fall packages and it is SO much food for us! I have 5 pounds of sweet potatoes and 3 pounds of blue potatoes waiting to be eaten, plus more to be delivered in a few days!
Turn-Around: Wait.... didn't I make a pact a long time ago that I wasn't going to complain about first world problems? As in: (Pout face) "I have too much food!" How pathetic.
I've decided to make sweet potato fries for dinner.

3) I don't feel very well. I'm tired, nauseous, stuffy, and all I want to do it cuddle up at home and take a nap
Turn-Around:
After teaching us a good lesson in humility, God decided to bless us pretty quickly with another pregnancy. I am actually feeling quite calm right now, and I really feel like God is in control of whatever happens. It is sad it took 2 miscarriages to teach me that lesson. I would greatly appreciate your prayers everyone!

  2. Congratulations, Amy! I'm so glad to hear you are expecting again! Praying for a healthy mama and baby!

May I suggest that you find someone in need to give to when you receive too much from the CSA? I rather feel that God grants excess not for personal indulging, but for giving. :)

Best wishes for everything! Get some rest when you can during the first trimester. I had such a hard time allowing myself to slow down. Looking back, I wonder why I didn't permit myself more naps and rest. haha. I am truly thrilled for you. :)

    1. Thanks Whitney! Today I gave myself permission to slow down and it was lovely:) And yes, you are totally right. I have been contemplating places to donate some of this food. What I have found though is it is not necessarily that I have too much food, it is that I would much rather eat brownies than potatoes!

  4. So happy for you! And praying for peace and that this pregnancy goes smoothly.

I don't know much about blue potatoes, but one of my new favorite ways to use sweet potatoes is to fill them up like baked potatoes. I'll use leftover chicken if there is some around, otherwise its a great option for a vegetarian meal.

  9. I'm so happy for you!!!
My husband and I are now expecting our first (after 4 years... I really know those ups & downs!) And we are 14 weeks along.
May every day God gives you with this child be a blessing to you, and may your trust in God continue to grow; He *does* hear our prayers, and He *does* know what is *best*.
A quote that really impacted me early this year was "Expect God to give yyou what He knows is best for you."
At the time, is was a stepping stone to contentment in barrenness; now it is a reminder to actively trust Him through these weeks of changes!
Much love to you in Christ,
    Elisia

I love to fellowship with others and hear what they have to say. I would ask, however, that you be mindful of what you write and try to be uplifting and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
