Baby Update: 16 Weeks

See my last update at 13 weeks HERE

How far along? 16 Weeks
Baby Size: About 4.5" long (head to rump) and 3.5 ounces. Baby can hear our voices and is growing hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows :)
Have you started to show? A little bit! It mostly looks like I ate too much food, but people have started commenting on it (only those who already know I'm pregnant)
Total weight gain: 3-4 pounds depending on the day
Maternity clothes? I've officially retired a lot of my clothes. I'm only wearing looser tops (all not maternity), and have two maternity bottoms (1 pair of jeans and 1 skirt) I wear between some regular elastic-waisted skirts. Maternity skirts can be hard to find!
Stretch Marks? I know they are inevitable, but I'm coating myself in oils and creams twice a day. If anything it helps with the crazy dry skin pregnancy has given me.
Sleep: I'm sleeping well between bathroom breaks. I am a little frustrated not being able to sleep at all on my back.
Best moment this week: Having coworkers point out my little baby belly at lunch. It is fun that I am no longer the only one who notices.
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back
Movement: Nothing for sure yet, but I have been feeling a very slight wiggly feeling every once in a while that I think might have something to do with our little one.
As for my movement, I have been staying very active. I do cardio workouts 4 times a week, and continue to do pushups, core exercises, and lunges every day. I am trying to just maintain what I've always done and not really adding anything new.
Food cravings: This changes from day to day, but anything salty sounds great (mmm bacon)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope, I think I'm finally past all that
Gender Prediction: We will find out when the baby comes. I think it's a boy, my husband thinks it's a girl. Our families are evenly split
Symptoms: HEARTBURN!!!!
Mood: Getting excited to get going on baby stuff soon! We start our Bradley classes in a few weeks, and we'll need to register and get the baby room organized in January. I'm also a little freaked out by some of the changes in my body (exciting changes, but still a little hard to come to terms with).
Looking forward to: Feeling the baby move!

  1. Have you tried thredup.com for maternity clothes? Just click on womens and whatever clothes you want to see and then click the maternity space beneath that. It isn't goodwill prices; it is like an online Clothes Mentor, but it is still used, so decently priced. They might have holiday sales coming up too.

    1. I love Thredup! I actually got the one skirt I have so far from there. I went to the clothes mentor nearby searching for more skirts, and managed for find a pair of Gap long-length jeans instead (I always try to keep 1 pair of jeans around). It's only been a week or so that I've needed maternity bottoms, and luckily I'm still able to wear some elastic-waisted skirts. Next I am hoping to purchase a long-length skirt from newcreationapparel.com, but in the meantime I am definitely scoping Thredup and ebay:)

  2. Nice to hear you are still doing well. Pregancy does do very strange things to your body doesn't it?! I lived in tunics/dressses and leggings during my pregnancies. I had a hard time finding maternity clothing at thrift stores too, but was lucky that family was very helpful in purchasing new clothes for me during holidays/birthday so I had plenty to wear!

I love to fellowship with others and hear what they have to say. I would ask, however, that you be mindful of what you write and try to be uplifting and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
