Cookie Day 2014

About 5 or 6 years ago my mom and I started a tradition of a Christmas cookie baking day. It has been so much fun through the years as we choose fun recipes, visit with friends and family, and bake our hearts out.

Usually we start at 9am and bake 6-7 types of cookies. Cookie day ends when we are done, usually around 4-5pm. My mom and I are always there from beginning to end, and other people drop in as they are able. It's an exhausting day (so say my drooping eyes right now), but so much fun.

I'm apologizing in advance for the grainy cell phone photos, as that is all I could manage during the busy day.

Here is some of the cookie baking crew, including my sister, sister in law, and cousins. Victoria didn't bake but she sure provided a cute distraction!
But amidst all the fun and visiting, we did manage to bake 6 recipes including:

White Chocolate-dipped Ginger Snaps

Chocolate Turtle Thumbprint Cookies

Lemon Poppyseed Cookies

Almond Poinsettia Cookies

Snowballs

And my favorite Heath Chocolate Chip Cookies were still baking when I took these photos. We made around 80-100 of each cookie type.

The funny thing about cookie baking is that you end up eating a lot fewer cookies than you would think. Although I will say I definitely are my fair share :)

Do any of you bake this time of year? Do you do the same recipes every year or switch it up? This year we did all new recipes and they were a hit!

  1. These all look amazing!

We have our favorite cookie and candy recipes we make each year. Usually I will try a new one. This year it was cookie dough truffles. I think they will be added to the list of favorites. :D

    Merry Christmas to you!

I love to fellowship with others and hear what they have to say. I would ask, however, that you be mindful of what you write and try to be uplifting and respectful. Thank you for sharing!
