Twin Pregnancy update: 18 weeks

How far along? 18 Weeks
Babies Sizes: About 5.5" long (head to rump) and 7 ounces. About the size of a bell pepper
Have you started to show?: The baby belly is definitely making itself known. At 15 weeks I was measuring 20 weeks at my midwife appointment, so I am definitely showing more than I was with my last pregnancy
Total weight gain: About 15 lbs (double what I'd gained with Victoria at this point). Goals for twins are between 20-30 lbs by 20 weeks. I've just come to terms with the fact that I need to gain more this pregnancy to give the babies the best chance of healthy birth weights
Maternity clothes? I can still fit in a few "normal" shirts but I'm finding maternity clothes more comfortable at this point. Loving this new maternity shirt from Pink Blush Maternity!
Stretch Marks? Not yet! But with twins I feel like they will be inevitable
Sleep: Not great but better than 1st trimester
Best moment this week: Realizing I look pregnant!
Miss Anything? Sleep!
Movement: I'm trying to keep active, but being sick this week put a damper on that. I feel the babies once a day or so, and started feeling them crazy early, around 12.5 weeks
Food cravings: Food! Yesterday I really wanted pickles (we didn't have any!!!). Today I want salt water taffy
Anything making you queasy or sick: I only feel sick if I've gone more than 2 hours or so without eating. As long as I keep a steady stream of food going in, I feel good.
Gender Prediction: We will find out in a few weeks! I think it is a boy and a girl, my husband thinks 2 girls
Symptoms: My lower back has started hurting and I'm just noticed an all-around achiness.
Mood: Excited! I realized today I need to get a move on getting ready for these babies! My goal is to be ready for the babies to arrive by 32 weeks or so, as twins can be a little unpredictable. I am a planner, so this is all quite exciting to me!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender(s) of the babies in a few weeks! We always said we would keep the gender a surprise UNLESS we were having twins. I am excited to find out and see these little ones!

  2. Hooray! So fun to read an update and sense your excitement. You look wonderful, by the way. Has Victoria picked up on the idea of something changing? I remember Tennyson being too young to really understand, but he still knew something was going on. He would come up to my belly and just stare at it (and occasionally poke it). haha. Praying things continue smoothly (and you get all that planning activity in! That's important too. ;) ).
