Nesting and Prepping for Twins

We have been so so so shocked by the outpouring of love and support from friends and family since finding out we are having twins. We live in a different state from our families, but even so they have done so much to help from afar.

My mom and stepdad came for a visit in early June, and they helped paint the nursery and Victoria's rooms (which were a very dingy off-white before). It was such a blessing as Andy would have been stuck with all the work to himself without them.

Now the nursery is almost finished and looks like this.

A second crib will go in the corner next to the first crib, so they will form an "L".

Victoria and I also made a trip to visit my family in June, and my mom and sisters took the opportunity to throw a little baby "sprinkle" shower for me. We were gifted with clothes, a twin breastfeeding pillow, a stroller, and a new larger diaper bag (a must for a cloth-diapering mama!). It was such a blessing considering how many items we are in need of now that we will have two babies in our home.

While I was there a friend also gave me a lot of her baby items, as she will no longer have children due to a rare complication. It was such a blessing because she actually owned the exact same bouncer chair I owned already!
Andy and I put the bouncers together in our front room and looked at each other like "Woah! We are going to have TWO babies!". It was the moment when it all hit us!

My dad and stepmom found our dream stroller used on Craigslist near their home and purchased it for us. This was such a God-send, as the stroller costs a FORTUNE new, and it will allow us to have a place for Victoria still.
The ValcoBaby Twin Tri Mode has a removable 3rd "Joey Seat", so we can easily convert our double stroller to a triple. We use our stroller a lot of long walks, outings, and the zoo (we have a membership to the zoo 10 minutes from our house, so we are there almost weekly).

I had already purchased this Double Snap N Go for $25 on a Facebook sale group, so I think I am pretty much as set as I can be to leave the house with 3 children under 2.5 years old!
Other than that, we got fun gifts like this matching set for Victoria and the twins
Plus a 2nd "Baby K" onesie to match the one a family friend had made for us before Victoria was born (We used to refer to Victoria as Baby K while I was pregnant with her because of the first initial of our last name).
The original is on the right, and the new matching one is on the left
And while I am much too practical to want to dress the twins in matching clothes all the time (I only have one of everything Victoria wore), family has been indulging me a bit and provided some beautiful matching outfits.

I feel so blessed by all the help we have received. Very very soon we will be holding these little ones in our arms, and knowing we are so well prepared with items to make our lives as easy as possible makes me so thankful already.

  1. So cute! I love the outfits and the nursery looks incredible. My parents and in laws also helped us a ton with painting after we moved halfway through my pregnancy into our new house. It was such a help. We couldn't have done it without them!

  3. Aw, so fun to read an update!

I didn't realize you lived at a distance from both families. That's great they are still so involved!

The room looks fantastic! This is the same decor as you had done Victoria's room, right? What will her new room looks like? I'm sure it will be adorable. You have such cute ideas! (And I'm really impressed how you've gotten all the textile components to match so well!).

    :)
